What is The Sanctum?
Sanctum of the Archmage is a saga of high fantasy in an old-school style, with expansive world-building and larger than life heroes. It’s a battle of good vs. evil that rejects the grayness of today’s stories to defend the values of personal choice and independence. An ancient conflict not only of magic, but of philosophy, to determine the fate of a world — and more.
The Sanctum is the Substack of epic fantasy author Tony Andarian, author of the Sanctum of the Archmage novels and games. That’s me, of course. They are published by my personal imprint, Andarian Publishing.
What can you read on The Sanctum?
The Sanctum is an expanded, Substack-based version of my author newsletter, The Sanctum. It will include three types of posts:
News and commentary on my books and game development projects, and on my personal author journey. It will be a nexus for reader, player, and fan outreach and feedback, for those interested in my work.
Commentary on writing, game development, and the creative arts in general, and the science fiction and fantasy genres in particular. I’m hoping to make it a place for thoughtful discussion of those topics, and their connection to wider issues in culture and philosophy.

What is the Sanctum of the Archmage Saga?
It’s the story of heroes who fought to bring peace and freedom to the World of Kalara. They came from different lands and backgrounds, but they all had one thing in common: an uncompromising refusal to submit to evil.
It’s the tale of an arrogant mage who will do anything to realize his dream of dictatorship by a ruling elite — including summon an army of demons to enforce it. Of a free-spirited princess ready to lay down her lute and her life to stop them. And of a young man with a mysterious gift, one that could turn the tide of a cosmic war between light and dark that has been going on for thousands of years.
